Request: wallpaper

As you can see in the January screenshot thread, I now have this wallpaper:
tNnl4Zg

I would like to have this wallpaper with the #! logo, instead of the Debian Swirl. Sadly, my GIMP skills aren't high enough to accomplish this. That's why I'm asking someone who is skilled enough to do so. I also have got multiple colors (blue, yellow, grey etcetera), so if you want another color just ask.

Here's the empty wallpaper:
tNnl4Zw

And here's the #! logo:
tNnl4aA

The wallpapers are found here:

Re: Request: wallpaper

That's getting close to what I want, but would it be possible for the #! logo to have the same sort of colour/grids/dontknowwhatitscalled as the Debian Swirl has? If you could do that it would be awesome!

EDIT: And did you light it up?

I don't quite understand what you want. Do you mean the CrunchBang logo should be exactly the same colour as the Debian logo? I didn't change the background at all. I just plonked the logo on top of the background provided.

Re: Request: wallpaper

Sorry for being such a pain in the ass hmm

For me, the wallpaper is much more bright than the original one (maybe because you placed the #! logo over it?)

And yes, I want the #! logo to look exactly as the Debian logo, as in color and such.

Re: Request: wallpaper

Ehh, would it be possible if you could make a #! version of the whole pack?

If so, here's all the different colours:

tNzBkMg

tNzBkMw

tNzBkNA

tNzBkNQ

tNzBkNg

tNzBkNw

Thanks in advance! big_smile

Re: Request: wallpaper

tNzBkag

If I can make a suggestion...

A grey-scale image (such as the one above) makes a great template for colorizing in GIMP.

It is very simple to do.

1. Open the image in GIMP
2. Select the Colors menu
3. Select Colorize

pictured here...
tNzBkbg

Using the "hue" slider you can select from 360 colors,
and save whichever you like using File -> Save as ->
Then enter " WHATEVERYOUWANTTOCALLIT", then enter the file extention you want. like... ".png" or ".jpg"
Save

Re: Request: wallpaper

Thanks, I'm totally unskilled when it comes to stuff like this, so I didn't know that. I'll mess around a bit and see what I'll end up with.

Re: Request: wallpaper

They look nice, but I don't like some of the colors on these (too bright).

Re: Request: wallpaper

@unia i agree with @illumin8 as doing a colorize or hue/saturation change on a greyscale would be the easiest approach for new colors.  To help you get over the hump with your gimp learning curve, I've gone ahead and filled your request with all the walls made and an xcf that they were made from so that you can kind of see/learn what's going on.  They are all in a tar.bz2 archive bellow.  I also linked up a higher resolution #!CrunchBang logo in .svg for you to use for future projects as well, as this was the one we used on your walls.

How your walls were made for future refference is, all colored walls were added to a gimp xcf file, and the svg logo was added as a layer on top of those.  Then the logo was set to 72% opacity with darken only blening mode.  This allows the logo to be the right color and contrast like the debian logo.  Note that we are using the .svg logo I created.  The original one linked up wasn't sharp enough for the project since it was a small .png.  Then i would uncheck each background allowing the previous layer to show through and save each file individually.  It's really simple when you get a game plan together, and I'm sure you'll be cranking em out similarily if not better soon!!

Happy GIMPing and #!ing.

Re: Request: wallpaper

Thank you! big_smile This is exactly what I was looking for!

I've decided to digg into Gimp some more. Actually I've just created a spin-off of an xfwm4 theme just an hour ago, using Gimp.
I'll look into your steps and see if I can get the hang of it. Thanks again, it's really appreciated smile

Re: Request: wallpaper

Note: I had to change the extension of the compressed file to .tar, instead of .tar.bz2, to unpack it.

oh sorry bout that unia, I make my archives with the commandline and think i used tar -cvzf instead of -cvjf as intended.  Very kewl you made it work!  I'll look into the error soon and change the extension on the source and link to reflect your discovery soon.

Edit: this has now been changed.  Thank you for finding the error!  It's been changed to tar.gz instead of tar.bz2.
