Greetings all,
We started a bit slow in July but really picked up towards the end of the month. As always it was pleasure to keep track of the communities efforts and see the great ideas that members have for their desktops.
Keep up the great work

As always, please continue to use thumbnails linking to the larger image to help those of us with slow connections. An example of the code needed is below. Most image hosting sites will automatically generate this for you as well.

Went back to square one with my GTK (it's now 90% Murrine and 10 % Pixbuf)
Still not entirely happy with some of the pixmaps (I just grabbed stuff from my pixmap collection instead of making original ones) and also need to play around with tint2 and my OBmenu a bit, but so far, I have this;

My late July neon tube wallpaper was so kindly received that I decided to start August by sharing another version, the same neon lights with a different photo background layer. The photo used for the background is by Ally, from his exciting travelling website allystrip.com, Sunset rooftops (Marrakesh, Morocco). The text on the website says the gorgeous wallpapers are "free", so I trust they can be also modified for non-commercial purposes. The font for the neon tubes is called Spinach Outline (dafont.com).
Here is also a link to the multilayered XCF file without the photo background. [Updated 2010-08-03, see also my post below.]
P.S. Gutterslob, the blank inactive title bars are terrific, just as everything else in your scrot above, once again!

Holy crap dude...that's gorgeous. Would you mind sharing the theme or at least explain how you went about customizing it? Thanks! One of these days I'll learn how to make themes...

Here is also a link to the XCF file, 2 layers, without the photo background.

Thanks for sharing the XCF, Piraja.
Also thanks for the complement. I actually wanted to have the title bars raised/embossed, but didn't do so cos I couldn't replicate the effect in tint2
Maybe I should do away with tint2 altogether (I use OB's middle-click menu more often for task-switching, anyway).
I absolutely love your conky in this scrot, spy.... nice work!!

Would you mind waiting a couple of days?
I still need to make some pixmaps for the GTK and also need to conjure up a nicer OBmenu and tint2 config .... Once ready, I'll release everything in a suite/pack archive, along with some instructions.
I'll also try to clean up the gtkrc file and add some notes to it for you to refer to in case you want to make your own theme in future.
Sorry for the inconvenience. Actually planned to have the whole thing ready by today, but some work/life related stuff came up and sorta f*cked my Sunday
you give me an idea
If this 'idea' involves you wearing a dress with the theme's colours, I want pics!!

Funky wallpaper, Cog.... Did Sector11 do the modeling?
What's the app displaying 'mclintock' (your name/hostname?) on the right? Is it conky or billboard? I've seen you mention billboard a few times. What does it do, exactly? (I assume it does more than generate names)

No problem, man. That's actually going above and beyond so thanks for that. Take your time - you're a man on a mission and I respect that.

On my way towards realizing the crazy idea of rotating desktop wallpapers... You know how neon signs blink...
Multi-layer XCF neon sign downloadable here. Credits for the photo layer and font in my earlier post(s).
