October was one of our best months yet for desktop screenshots. Thanks to all for their contributions and discussion. Keep up the great work
Thank you also to everyone for sticking to the thumbnail images in this thread. Please continue to use thumbnails linking to the larger image to help those of us with slow connections. An example of the code needed is below. Most image hosting websites will automatically generate this for you as well.

Enjoy

^ may look a bit boring, but moving from #000000 -> #212121 is a big change for me!
P.S. To everyone who contributed, nice work on last month's desktop screenshot thread. There were loads of awesome and inspiring desktops! The Conky configs were also very cool!

@corenominal - Is there a way to change the desktop color or did you just put the #! logo on a gray background?

When you select the wallpaper you want in Nitrogen, there is a color selector box at the bottom of the window. Just pick what color you want prior to clicking Apply.
Can't believe it's November already...
Haven't changed much since last month.

But probably not as long as it took me to work out "01101111 01101101 01101110 01110011"

Well I'm really liking a close mix of 333333 and 303030 which give a plasticy-graphite - at least on my monitor..
I just can't quite get the right contrasting wallpaper yet..
EDIT I added the theme to box-look

@tawan - I really like that theme! The color scheme bears a strong resemblance to the Gnome Darklooks theme, which is what I use.

I'm finally getting my desktop PC converted to #! from Ubuntu 9.10.
And a change of wallpaper on the EeePC to keep things matching...

Hi, does the Powerbutton on the wallpaper work, or is it just a picture?

Currently, no. I've been thinking about it though. Not sure how I'd make that work yet.
@jpope : beautiful setup !!
Thanks.

A little question:
How did you made the standing tint2?

@taklertamas - it should be in this thread:
http://crunchbanglinux.org/forums/topic … int2-help/
Basically you need to change panel_position to "top left vertical", but there are a few other parameters that need to be tweaked as well.

Also, if you want a quick and easy GUI to edit Tint2, install tintwizard.

Dude... That is so awesome! I'm a noob to linux but I want to learn how to do that. You should make a tutorial on how to make your desktop look like that. I switched from UNR to Crunchbang.
