I just listend to linuxoutlaws (http://linuxoutlaws.com/podcast/142) . They mentioned the alpha release and more interesting that they will interview corenominal in the show next week!
Offline
http://distrowatch.com/weekly.php?issue=20100322 also mentioned the switch to Debian in the alpha release.

Philip and I recorded the interview with the Linux Outlaws last night - an epic 2 and a half hours session of laughs and banter, and the occasional serious discussion about CrunchBang Statler!
Who knew we would have so much to talk about!
Dan and Fabsh will work their magic and whittle the segment down to about 10 mins so it is usable in their podcast. Not sure which episode it will be released in, but fingers crossed it will be soon.

^ it was a fun evening!

^Cool!!
But what I'm really looking forward to is the article and cover feature in TIME magazine.... wonder what's taking the buggers so long?!

Yay! The interview is up on Linux Outlaws (ep 144)! Listening to it now.

Okay, I *finally* finished listening to it (kept getting interrupted every few minutes and had a minor mishap with a vacuum cleaner and some hardware).
Non-spoiler thoughts:
corenominal and bobobex don't sound at all in real life like they do in my head while reading their posts.
corenominal is still super modest. He also brings the beer.
I laughed out loud at the kilt thing.
bobobex should embrace her inner geek more.
The name and the disclaimer helped with self-selection of who would be attracted to it (which I kind of knew already but it's cool to hear it). And said in a way more interesting way than I just wrote out.
That was a great show!

Glad you liked the show - it was as fun listening to it as it was recording it. I'm trying to discover my inner geek a bit more, but don't think our house could cope with two of us totally zoning out (nothing domestic would ever get done, and then Social Services would declare us as unfit parents!)
I'm thinking about hiring a kilt for Philip to wear at Ogg Camp 2010, just so I can prove to the world that what I said in the podcast is true! And he'll definitely need a bigger backpack for his beer - maybe he can hide some in his sporran.

corenomial might just start wearing it around the house if that happens!

Mwoehaha! On some Ubuntu bashing article, there's some #!-praise. The best of it: It seems to be a windows oriented forum.
Congrats all and in particular corenominal, for this word of support from some MS-fanboy site

Luckily, I don't mind a little tinkering, and I grew up in the time when you had to know how to do some relatively complex stuff in DOS if you wanted to play computer games. So I can handle a command line, or command-line-like, experience. I've moved my netbook over to Crunchbang Linux. It's everything that I think Linux should be.
+1

(..) word of support from some MS-fanboy site
Or maybe there's no fanboying involved here and the reviewer is just someone who is able to objectively look at different OS'es, unlike a lot of Linux-enthusiasts...
Regarding Ubuntu (which most of the article is about), it indeed astonishes me that they claim it to be a fast operating system. It's the first thing you see when visiting ubuntu.com (‘Ubuntu is a fast, secure and easy-to-use operating system used by millions of people around the world.’) and I've seen it in press releases too. Well, I don't know, but the netbook I've been running CrunchBang 9.04 on for a long time now was very slow and unresponsive with Ubuntu 9.04... I'm talking about waiting for windows to be drawn on the screen here!
Go #!
