A few ideas and suggestions

I have been using #! since v. 9.04, and I have recently installed Waldorf after a short time on LMDE. These are a few ideas I have had:

Nvidia driver installation: each time I install, I look up the how to on these forums, follow what is written, and eventually end up with the non-free drivers installed correctly. Not exactly painful, but switching to tty1 and killing the DM means you need another device handy (or pen and paper) so you can know what to type.
Would be nice if there were an option in the #! menu that just launched a script that would do the whole thing. Maybe it could go into cb-welcome?

Synaptic: I dont know how many of us here actually use synaptic but it would be nice to have the quick search (apt-xapian-index) installed by default. Discussed here:

Themes: Bring back shiki-statler please! It was the default in statler if I remember and was quite nice, but not seen in Waldorf sad

Compositing: IMO this should be switched off by default, due to the issue with video tearing, unless of course it gets ironed out by the compton devs. I have always liked #! for being a distro that doesn't put a flashy UI before functionality.
Discussed here:

So nothing major really, just a bit of polish to a fine distro. Anyone else agree?

Be excellent to each other!

I can't speak for nvidia, but I've had an excellent experience with install-fglrx-debian.sh made by Kano (of Kanotix). Where smxi failed me, this script worked the first time - and it was fully automatic. He also has an install-nvidia-debian.sh which probably works equally great. His script installs all requisite packages and automatically downloads the driver installer off the AMD site. The drivers install as removable packages too, making things more clean.

They can be found here: http://kanotix.com/files/

Could these scripts possibly be included in Crunchbang? Ideally they would be downloaded rather than included at a frozen version (he updates them after new driver releases).
