Had two hours to kill, and I wanted a fully working pulseaudio and systemd. I guess I'll try not to push Sid too hard, but since I've been bashing anything but Stable for the longest time, it's only right to fess up.
systemd is awesome.

The GTK transition mess has cleared up, so I'm not displeased. I wanted proper liquorix kernel headers and stuff, so yeah, this is easier. We should be fine until the next big toolkit horror or pearl update.

What's next, Arch?

Speaking of douchebags, I always crack a warm fuzzy grin every time I buy shower gel and get a tube with the words 'Gel Douche' on it, thinking to myself "finally, a product made just for me". Gotta love em French peeps!!

bartender: ma'am what'll it be

So come up to the lab...

Well, 24 hours later, and I didn't run screaming back to Squeeze, even though I'm getting some weirdness with hdparm, and Firefox is slow as molasses.
Offline
^ What version of FF? I was running Aurora but since the 18 branch has been released, it is a dung heap of slow everything.
I went back to 16, which is what is in debian experimental and it is a hell of lot better.

Ha, I've just booted into Squeeze again, and everything is just so much smoother...

Easy peasy. You install it and add the init=/bin/systemd to your boot line in Grub.

And you are done? Cool...I could give it a try on my Testing system...
Thanks for your reply!

Agree, changing to systemd is simple and start/shutdowns are magnitudes faster.

I'm telling you man, Arch is the way to go
No toolkit mess, systemd by default, fine-working firefox and perhaps (no experience) a working pulse!

Nevermind. Thought it would look better in code tags, but it doesn't.

kernel performance seems to be the only thing I notice in SID. Some are better than others...
I guess it's the scheduler (I run a Win7 VM giving it 4 cores). Depending on the kernel, sometimes it's smooth, sometimes there are pauses.
Right now I'm running 3.6-2.towo-siduction-amd64, (choppy) but the previous one is smooth,
I haven't had any other slowness.
