( SOLVED) sound converter not showing mp3 ?

hello i have installed soundconverter but it is not showing mp3
i tried this command sudo apt-get install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly which is what i used in peppermint but i still cannot see mp3,any ideas please ?

Since you're on testing/unstable, you should be able to install libmp3lame0 from the Debian repo; this is what you need to encode to mp3 in Debian.

in synaptic it says it is already installed,i reinstalled it and then ran soundconverter but it is still not there,on the bottom it says mp3 encoder not present

I would install w64codecs or w32codecs depending on what your architecture is.

sudo apt-get install -y -f w64codecs

or

sudo apt-get install -y -f w32codecs

i just ran sudo apt-get install -y -f w64codecs and then tried soundconverter but still no mp3 ?

I just installed soundconverter and mp3 works for me...  these are the additional music app/support files I have installed along with 64 bit w64codecs

gstreamer0.10-plugins-base libdvdcss gmusicbrowser mpg321 libgstreamer-perl gstreamer0.10-plugins-good gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg libgstreamer-interfaces-perl

GmusicBrowser is what I use as a music app and the ibgstreamer-interfaces-perl file is for support of that

Do you have gstreamer0.10-lame installed?  Here it says it is a requirement.

Also do you have

deb http://www.deb-multimedia.org sid main non-free

in /etc/apt/sources.list?

sorry i am getting a bit lost now,i downloaded soundconverter tar file from source but i do not know how to install it,i will have to log off now and login in the morning.

i did a google for
gstreamer0.10-lame downloaded it and installed and then tried soundconverter and all ok now,thank you every one for the help given.
