Recurring threads

There are some type of threads that gets started again and again. I am specially thinking of "file manager"
and "browser". Lightweight, faster, most popular etc, This is of course very understandable since it is something we all use. I am just wondering if it would be more practical to have mega threads for this type
of never ending discussions?
