#!Crunchbang has always used the Openbox WM ... so what happens with Gnome or any of it's shells, or Unity for that matter, does not effect us.

So its GTK + (yes), but gnome apps (no). Is this accurate ?

Basically, although Crunchbang comes with Gnome Calculator by default.

It's only a 'megasplit' if you view Ubuntu and Linux as being one in the same. They're all just Linux distros doing their thing around the Linux kernel.

for me what is sad in linux is not the usage of different WE but using different kind of packages
and the no promotion of LSB because every time u want to try something new (eg u have debian and want to try suse)
u are afraid that many of the apps u are used to will not be compatible with ur new systems.
ofc i say u have nothing to be afraid of, is good using alternative apps (instead of gedit geany or deluge
for ktorrent) because u learn more and more but still distros compatibility is a big issue.
anyway back to the topic i think that rhowaldt just put it as is. ubuntu is a bloat.
debian is not and when u add on this a light WE (any light WE, not only OB) u have
something wonderful
(to be honest i prefer OB in comparison with enlightment TWM or others but this is IMO
)

The last Ubuntu Crunchbang goes back to 2009. That's about a century in IT years.
I'm so meta, even this acronym
