At first I had wondered if this strange new flavor of Linux was worth the effort of trying. Well since I've been distro hoppin for awhile now trying to find a balance between speed, stability, and usability. Often regular desktop environments seem to be slow and the ones that aren't particularly slow always have some usability issues. Xfce for me used to mean a very lean desktop but lately they have been getting more sluggish on my computer. Thus I tried using LXDE. Faster by far but the file manager bundled was garbage and gave me plenty of headaches. This here has it right, Thunar and openbox with pre configured conky, tint2, and 2 compositors to choose from!
I sure missed seeing my ram usage below 500MB.
