Welcome Tim to #!..
Have fun. I won't be responsible for how you decide to run your Updates but I was pinning Religious fanatic.
Then about 3 years ago I stopped and just put my trust in the repositories.
I install at least two distros a month to play around with and most are Debian / Ubuntu / Slackware flavors.
Plus I install quite a bit of development software and compilers.. C++, Java, Python, Perl.....Netbeans, Eclipse, Codeblocks, QTcreator etc and lots of widget libraries...
I really have never regretted that I have stopped pinning..
If you find that your pinning technique is causing you problems with apps like libre and abi then perhaps try without...
Just a consideration..

Forget about pinning. Real men run Sid.

^ what Ivan said. pinning is a waste of time when you could be running Waldorf or pure sid.

Welcome and enjoy your time here. I live in Norway and have been in love with #! now for so long I dont remember when it began. The fact that it's a rolling release is just the cherry ontop:)
This is Linux country. If you listen carefully, you can hear Windows reboot...
