xscreensaver-fliptext date updating

I'm using the "FlipText" xscreensaver and I've specified "Host Name and Time" under the "Advanced" tab. However, the date and time displayed when the screensaver is running does not update properly. It displays the time as HH:MM:SS, but each time the text reappears in the animation, the time only advances by 3 seconds, so after a short while the time which is displayed is incorrect. I know that "xscreensaver-text" dumps out text as specified in "~/.xscreensaver". I assume FlipText calls this for the output, but it does not seem to update. I'm using #! Statler and xscreensaver 5.11.

Re: xscreensaver-fliptext date updating

After watching this for a while, it seems to update every four minutes? But it seems inconsistent.
