I feel that I should reveal more about myself now that I have had so much help with CrunchBang already. This forum has saved my Elonex from being consigned to the bin or being sold on Ebay for parts.
I have a blog about my budgies, or my feathered fiends as I like t call them. I have been writing about their daily antics since about June 2010.
Link to the blog for anyone interested is in my profile. Here is a pic of four of them Roswell, Snowy, Lilek and Monty.

Do you blog?

I started blogging in 2004 with Hardcore Punk & Anarchism themed. It's very underground in Turkey and Ireland, with fellow followers, anarcho punk bands etc. after 5 years I closed it. I was tired, I didn't want to write any anarchist or music related articles. I think it had 350+ articles, mostly coppied to wikipedia now. And now I got very personal and special like my mastery on writing. It has no theme, I just wrote what I think or feel. I really want to translate a few of them for you but I don't know translation fulfill what I really want to say.
Love budgies btw. But I think you have an obsession with blue.

The budgies are mostly rehomed, I don't get to choose colours!
But the ones pictured only one is blue!
Roswell is a normal grey, Snowy is an Opaline grey pied, Lilek is a double factor spangle and Monty a normal blue
Your blog sounds interesting

I do blog... over here:

It's been a bit dry as I've been spending more time posting the comics I've written over at fightcomics.ca, but I'm drafting up a post about running a retro game of AD&D, as well as a comic book reread of the series 100 Bullets! Stay tuned...

Um... I have a blog, http://jims2011.blogspot.com/
Not many people visit it, and I'm okay with that, because I hammer it out more for myself than anyone else, but Blogger won't accept SVG files for pictures.
Anyone know of a (hopefully free) alternative that supports SVG?

Actually i'd wiki instead of blog, but the time needed to write well structured pages that link to (are linked from) something relevant & wiki codes are making me nervous, so i blog (it looks like half written, outdated - computer related help file, started around 2006). If you want link (and you don't), ask me on irc.

WordPress will, provided you do a slight edit of your configuration files. Then again, my source of reference is about a year out-of-date, so this functionality may be built into WP's core by now.
This is, of course, assuming that you have access to web hosting services or can get a LAMP server running in your basement. Otherwise, you should look at WordPress.com. which provides free hosting for WP blogs - but be warned, some functionality is limited in a free-user context.
Personally, I would go for the self-hosted option (e.g. download and install WP on a LAMP server either in your house or in a commercial datacenter). This gives you access to it in its full, raw-power form. But for some people, that is not an option - either due to ISP limitations or other reasons...
Good luck! Let me know if you have further questions.

Setting up your own server may be fun, and is worth giving it a try for the fun of it. Or if you consider blogging to be an important part of your daily life, having full control over your tools would be necessary. But for occasional bloggers like myself, I recommend the comfort of using a service (blogspot.com, wordpress.com, tumblr.com, etc.). It's much faster to set up, easier to maintain and still provides some level of freedom (theming, etc.).
None of the services above support SVG, but perhaps it's not that cumbersome to convert SVGs into another format (PNG)?

Converting to PNG is not a problem, except I want to do a short lesson on why you'd want to use SVG for a company logo, or that sort of thing. The easiest way is just to take screen-shots while I'm doing something inside the program, and that's what it looks like I'll end up doing.
Setting up a server just for something like this is a bit overkill. Blogger seems to do a pretty good job and integrates well with my Android devices, so no compelling reason to go elsewhere.
Thanks for the input.

I have a blog about my ethnographic research and interests in alternative forms of organization. I see my interest ingnu/linux as part of this, and my time here as part of my research too. My blog is here:

Bad language; a lifestyle choice that came very naturally...

just tested it, and it seems that:
Wordpress has no clue about what svg is, how to handle it, or how to provide correct code for embeding (hacking the upload permission will not change that), plugins did not help either (but that was just a 5 minute test).

Also looking at maybe 'hosting' the files on Microsoft's Skydrive, or Google Drive. Maybe Dropbox...
Although all of these will hold the files, I'm not sure if I can link to them in a way that an end-user can see the images.
Ah, well... not like I can really break anything by trying.

Not that you asked my opinion or are required to care, but I like imgur for hosting image files.
