Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

Just now for the second time, after apt-get upgrade, tint2 is being really strange.  Icons in the workspace area move around - the active window's icon stays under the cursor when I move it over another icon.  The mouse scroll wheel changes the workspace, which normally doesn't happen, and it stops scrolling windows like it should normally.  Restarting Tint2 fixes things, but after that it only works for 1 or 2 clicks, then it's messed up again.  After a little more mouse use, things get even funnier.  The active window will follow the cursor into the next workspace, I can't click and drag or select things with the mouse unless they are in the workspace switcher bar thing.  Restarting Tint2 again doesn't seem to do anything anymore.
Anybody else having problems like this?

Edit:  Thanks for the welcome, guys.  I've enjoyed #! off and on since around when Statler came out and am now running it on my home server.  It's perfect for me.

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

I'd try reconnecting the mouse first. Maybe you want to give us some info:
Install this first:

sudo apt-get install usb-utils

then postthe outputs of:

lsusb
lspci -nn

using [code ] and [/ code] tags

Edit:

Oh yes, hello and welcome to #!

And hello good morning @VastOne wink wink

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

Is this a laptop/netbook with touchpad? If yes, does the same behaviour happen when using it?

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

Nope.  It's a desktop with a PS2 mouse.  I did have an Apple Magic Trackpad paired over bluetooth, but I could only get it to move the pointer around so it's not paired anymore.

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

From the timers in Xorg.0.log I suspect you are resuming from sleep or hibernation.
Can you try a cold reboot ( sudo poweroff and reboot).
Do not attach the apple wireless keyboard.
If you still have the same behaviour, post again output of

uname -r
dmesg
lsusb
cat /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

Yes, seems okay to me (except of two errors, but they seem to be unrelated, one is about the Apple Keyboard)

Do you have another kernel in the GRUB menu available? If yes, could you boot in it and check if the same problem occurs there?

Edit: Do first what xaos52 wrote.

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

OK big_smile
I was thinking that some module was loaded for handling the Apple wireless keyboard, and that it now prevents for a normal keyboard to function. So a cold reboot should clear the situation.

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

Though, the OP said that things changed after dist-upgrade. The question is, how long has OP used the "un-upgraded" system, to see if it would have happened then too.

Re: Waldorf - Tint2 and mouse issues after update

I haven't rebooted yet.  This happened once before and a reboot fixed it, but I've kept the system up so I can keep giving information.  The keyboard still functions perfectly as a keyboard, if that helps at all.  I'll do a cold reboot now.
The sleep/hibernation thing you saw was from a cat stepping on the keyboard or something during the night.  sad  The problem didn't start immediately after that, though.

Alright, after a reboot everything is back to normal again.  I'll revive the thread if it messes up again.  Thanks for the help so far.  Hopefully nobody else will run into this and it's just me.
