I've been trying to find the setting in Openbox which disables scrolling on the desktop.
When I currently scroll my touchpad, openbox rapidly switches between desktop 1 and desktop 2.
Is there a way of preventing this ONLY on the desktop and I use the touchpad to scroll for everything else?

Remove these mousebind sections from your ~/.config/openbox/rc.xml:
<context name="Desktop">
<mousebind button="Up" action="Click">
<action name="DesktopPrevious"/>
</mousebind>
<mousebind button="Down" action="Click">
<action name="DesktopNext"/>
</mousebind>
</context>Last edited by safetycopy (2012-03-10 18:49:37)

We need to make this a sticky somehow. A search on "stop mouse scrolling" in the search box gives me a thread from 2009 with this same question.

I know. It's all there. Can we tie people down and make them read for a few days before they ask questions? Maybe prop their eyes open, like in a clockwork orange?
I don't really care; it's easy to just link the old threads. Maybe I'll write a script to do it. I'm not really doing anything else right now...

In the Please Read Before Posting there are great pointers on the search functions, my point is that following these guidelines really do help and it is already a sticky. I would like to see the forums searched more thoroughly as a guide... I use it all the time to find things I have written and have forgotten...
There is a method to the sticky madness where "We only sticky threads which are popular (i.e. monthly screenshot thread) or threads which carry important info & we don't want them to get buried."
A script would be useful, what are you thoughts on it?

No worries ..... really enjoying #! in VM and am thinking of installing on an elderly Acer Aspire One netbook.
I guess #! should run really well.

@madwoollything: If you're happy with the solution could you please mark the thread as solved (edit the title of your first post and add [solved]) - this makes it easier for other people with the same problem to search for a solution in the future
@VastOne & 2ManyDogs: Using search successfully is somewhat dependent on your knowledge. I think it's @mrpeachy's sig that says something along the lines of "It's hard to find something if you don't know what you're looking for." It's the same with the wiki - there's some great articles on there, but the titles are worded in a way that makes it's difficult to find what you're after.
EDIT: Can't spell there
