What are you configuring/working on?

I have seen quite a few of these "what are you...?" threads so I thought this one would fit in. I and I am sure others are interested in what other crunchbangers are up to. Basically anything can go here.

To start I will soon be working on a Minull theme set with various colours etc.

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

I have been working on Weather Scripts to replace conkyForecast which will not work after Nov 15.

For some reason beyond explaination night before last I tried to update NVIDIA drivers.   It took about 5 hours and once with full black screen to repair the damage.   The GeForce 7200 card I run is about end of life. This explains why 5 years ago it was $19.

Congratulations, you've figured out the sound of one hand clapping...

FYI Bored, I use a GE 9600 and a GE 9500 1 gig in each. On newegg you can get them for as low as 49.00 US on sale... Most time they are between 55-69 US ... They work fantastic on Linux..

Thanks- $14.98 after rebate if PCI Express x16 means a PCI 2 card can be used....

The 7200 works fantastic but using the 3.0 Kernel and LMDE means I was way overconfident that I could install the 285 drivers.  I went back to Nouveau for now.

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

What issues did you have manually installing the drivers?

I was having nVidia issues on one machine with 3.0 and 285 but a new release (today) of Liquorix 3.0.0-8 solved it.. You might want to try that kernel to see if it resolves it

Re: What are you configuring/working on?

Getting ready to go install Ubuntu or Linux Mint on somebody's laptop. I know it's not Crunchbang, but they're new to Linux and this will be their best starting point.

Also, should I go with Ubuntu (11.04) or Mint (11 Gnome)?

Installing #! for the 14th time. Didn't like the XFCE version of #!, so going to have a fresh install of the Openbox version of #!. I prefer #!'s Openbox environment more. big_smile
