[SOLVED] Touchpad click at login screen

Any ideas why my touchpad click doesn't work until I've actually logged in? The touchpad works fine everywhere and once I've logged in, I can use the touchpad to click.

Good point, noticed this also while I was not using my mouse, still the button works on the touchpad.

Re: [SOLVED] Touchpad click at login screen

Yes, the touchpad and the button on the touchpad work, just the touchpad click that doesn't work. It's inconvenient though, because I am used to using the touchpad click and this is the only place it does not work in #!. I think it is related somehow (?) to the Debian base, because touchpad click doesn't work at all in Debian (even after logging in). Touchpad cilck does work in #! after logging in though.

Re: [SOLVED] Touchpad click at login screen

I am on Debian, touchpad click works here after looging in.

Edit: On Debian, if it does not work, go to the mouse preferences and activate it maybe. At least I had to do that on Debian.

If you are on the OpenBox version, then look in your autostart.sh. The click or tapping as it often is called, is handled by synclient. Synclient has got some commands in autostart.sh. If you really need the tapping before logging in, it might be possible to load the command earlier in the boot with init.

Thanks. I can live without having the tap-click on the login screen if I have to smile

Re: [SOLVED] Touchpad click at login screen

big_smile This solved it. Thanks big_smile

For reference, add this:

Option "TapButton1" "1"
Option "VertEdgeScroll" "1"

between Section "InputClass" and EndSection in "usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d/50-synaptics.conf" and restart.

Re: [SOLVED] Touchpad click at login screen

Oh yeah, of course. Adding it to xorg.conf is the proper way. Init is not a good solution compared to this!
