Installing elmurato ACPI scripts on the EEEPC 701

There's a bit of confusion on the forums as to exactly how you install the elmurato ACPI scripts. To help new users, the following procedure worked on my vanilla install of CrunchBang. On reboot, the EEE icon changes to the new 'mirrored Es', and the new functions (overclock, fan speed, etc) all work fine. I have confirmed the overclocking is working too, by running a

cat /proc/eee/fsb

So... to install the scripts from start to finish, copy/paste the following into a terminal:

sudo apt-get remove eee-control
wget http://www.informatik.uni-bremen.de/~elmurato/EeePC/Intrepid_Eeeasy-Scripts.tar.gz
tar xfvz Intrepid_Eeeasy-Scripts.tar.gz
cd Intrepid_Eeeasy-Scripts/
chmod +x acpi-scripts.sh
./acpi-scripts.sh install

Once this has finished running (you might have to hit enter on the last line, or answer any questions that pop up), reboot and hopefully it should work.

Good luck!

Hi Jotapesse, thanks for the reply. I found your post (in fact it's the main one I used), but it didn't give exact terminal commands for each step, which is why I posted the commands I found to work in case others were unsure.

On another note, I've used these scripts to ramp up the overclock on my EEE 701 to 110, rather than the 105 limited by the script. Having run this speed through other means for over a year without issues, I'm confident it is stable.

If anyone would like to try pushing a tiny bit more performance out of their EEE, my revised scripts can be found here

True. I choosed not to post all the procedure, which can be found on the original elmurato post on the eeeuser forums and pointing to it instead. Anyway, my point was that you could have posted on that topic. But hey.. no harm done! wink

Re: Installing elmurato ACPI scripts on the EEEPC 701

And the name is not elmurato any more - it's eeeasy scripts (google it at eeeuser.com, and you'll get a full how-to install)

also 9.04 version has no icon (tray) working... but apart from that all works fine (fan, cpu modes etc)

Re: Installing elmurato ACPI scripts on the EEEPC 701

Hi there,

i think I have installed  the acpi- script since all the fn-keys are working properly.
Stupid question, though: How do I open the power/energie- configuration tool?!
As I understand it the the acpi-Script allows me to adjust the power-managment of my eeepc, right?!

tim@crunchbanga:/etc/acpi/eeepc$ ls

detectHW.sh eeepcguifunctions.py eeepc-vga-toggle.sh
eeepc-acpi-settings.py eeepcguifunctions.pyc eeepc-wifi-control.sh
eeepc-acpi-settings.svg eeepc-lvds-toggle.sh fan.svg
eeepc-actions.sh eeepc-osd-daemon.py fsbCeleron.sh
eeepc-bt-toggle.sh eeepc-statusicon-green.svg settings
eeepc-cam-toggle.sh eeepc-statusicon-orange.svg temp.svg
eeepc-cardr-toggle.sh eeepc-statusicon.py wlan
eeepc-cpufreq-control.sh eeepc-statusicon-red.svg

when i try to open "eeepc-acpi-settings.py" etc i get:

tim@crunchbanga:/etc/acpi/eeepc$ /etc/acpi/eeepc/eeepc-acpi-settings.py

Re: Installing elmurato ACPI scripts on the EEEPC 701

If all you want are the fn keys on the eee pc to work, newer kernels have excellent support for this.
I think kernels around version 3.2.0 backports is where newer models like my 1015PX had full support for the fn keys.

If you have an older kernel like 2.6 consider upgrading to the backport version of crunchbang.

i also want the eee pc battery to be better. And when the AC is in maybe faster over all.
I dont really have a clue how to upgrade the kernel without screwing things up.

Do you have any tips for me? i think jupiter might work but, when i read around the elmurato sounds better. Iam pretty new to linux to, learning on the way.

Thanks
