I am not quite sure how to write this topic, talking about money is not something I am either familiar with, or overly comfortable doing. However, on more than a few occasions, people have asked, "How do I donate?" And, "Where is the donation button?" -- to which I have always replied by thanking them for their kind offer, but refusing it; not any more though, I have now set-up a new donations page and from this point on, I will be gratefully accepting contributions towards the running costs of the project.
As with the new Google Adsense program, any funds donated to the project will be put towards hosting fees and potential future infrastructure upgrades and services.
If anyone is interested in making a donation, the donations page can be found at: http://crunchbanglinux.org/donations/
P.S. I was totally blown-away earlier tonight when only a couple of hours after making the page live, I received notice of the first donation. I really was not expecting it, especially considering the fact that I had not really mentioned it to anyone. Thank you Zip, you are a star!

Cool!
I made a donation, it's not much but next month will be a better month for me. I hope I don't forget it.

how about an #!CRUNCHBANG t-shirt, or is there?
#!, all else is but a shadow!
May the Kernel be with you!

Hi Philip,
just a quick note - it's not entirely obvious where to indicate whether or not you want donate anonymously, despite the front page saying this is is an option?

I liked the idea about the t-shirts. I would feel better buying #! stuff as a way of helping... it doesn't seem to be very difficult to set up a virtual store and upload some of those nice #! logos (just a black t-shirt with white text would be really cool)
What do you think about it?

Just donated too. Not much as well but wanted to give something as a small thank you for the awesome distro! Thanks again Phillip!

Wow! CrunchBangers are a generous bunch and I have received an number of donations today, I really was not expecting anything, but it is nice to know people appreciate the project.
I have replied to each donor personally, but I just wanted to say thank you in public too. You rock!

Sure thing, I will look into getting something set-up.

I would also be interested in shirts, stickers, hats, or whatever. These things could help you financially with costs and help spread the word about #!

I could check the T-shirt prices in Poland - if you don't mind - as we still don't have euro, so
the prices should be lower than in UK or other EU countries.
How many would you like to order?
Just the T-shirts?
How about baseball caps, tea cups, buttons et.?
It could be delivered to UK and sent worldwide.

I think a #! CrunchBang T-shirt would be ultra cool. I would buy one or two.

Have you considered he possibility of using some of the existing on-line store services like Cafepress, Spreadshirt, Printfection, Zazzle or something similar.
With these services you only need to upload your designs and they take care of everything else (of course, they get a percentage of the income)

A black coffee mug with the white #! logo on would be cool. I'd buy a few. However, that wouldn't be as easy to ship as t-shirts.
Speaking of which. How about a small USB flash drive or HCSD card preinstalled with #!? Not much shipping cost since they can be sent in an envelope. You could probably sell them for I dunno, maybe $ 50 € 40 £ 30 depending on size and quality of flash drive/SD card?

Are there other ways to donate than through Paypal? For some odd reason I'm not able to pay with my credit card through that service.

The T-shirt idee: very cool.

I had problems getting them to link my CC also. But if you fight w/ it long enough you'll eventually be able to find away... or at least that was my experience.

So I've been wanting to donate for a bit, but I'm a little strapped, made the mistake of bringing my credit card with me while going drinking, so instead I've been clicking on ads here/at work until I can and unblocked the site from adblock
probably not much but I'm sure it can't hurt! I'll be outta the red soon enough for some #! loving

I will make a donation as soon as I can. I really do appreciate this distro and feel free and highly productive using it, as it seems to be the first to keep up with me fully. Maybe it's the combination of a few key things I never took notice of before like conky or openbox, but I am stuck using it now! I believe that this is also the best forum I have ever visited, as I have got responses from problems instantly from a great community.
Cheers Phillip and the other mods!

I like the t-shirt idea.
cafepress.com allows you to do this with no cost.

I cannot donate much, as I quit my job and am going back to school next month.
But I will most likely make a donation.
Why? Because this is the best distro in the world for me, and you aren't backed by a huge corporation.
I will try to donate €20 euro next month, money is tight now.
Keep up the good work.

Thank you for considering making a donation, but please please please only donate if you can afford it. Please do not feel that making a donation is a requirement, because it is not. There are plenty of other ways to contribute to the project.

I am also happy to see that you have implemented a CafePress on-line store!! I have just ordered my new #! black t-shirt!! Can't wait to wear it on special occassions!!!
