Easy enough... This is a great way to teach problem solving, especially to a group of kids and you would not believe how fast they pick up on it and come up with some AMAZING riddles...
Here is how it works...
Present your riddle...
You are encouraged to ask any question to get to the solution of the riddle... Once solved, the solver gets to present the next riddle..
The only hint that can be given is to stick to the specifics of what you know.... (from the question or riddle)
and I will start with this one...
A branch falls in the middle of the forest in the Colorado Rockies and an entire community cries.. Why?

is it a branch of a tree then?
is the community a community of humans?
do they cry as in tears (if so tears of sadness or joy?) or do they cry as in make loud noise?
does the community cry because the branch has fallen or because something that happens as a result of the falling branch?
what is the timescale between the branch falling and the community crying?

Also I qualified an answer from your previous in an edit...
does the branch break off the tree naturally, or does something cause the branch to fall?
is there anything on the branch when it falls (other than bark and leaves etc)? (if so what?)
does the branch hit anything when it falls? (if so what?)
how close is the community to the tree from which the branch falls?

Why that i'm so sudden thinking about the Colorado Rockies in MLB?
The branch fall is like losing and the community cries is like their fans are mad and cries because of their favorite team is lose.
Okay, i have to admit, i'm not good at riddles, that's my best shot.

Is the branch of the tree falling as a result of mountain pine beetles eating them?
Are the cries a result of the branch of the tree falling on a high voltage power-line?

There comes a time when I have to remind every group of kids I am working with that some of the most fundamental questions have not been asked...
(not saying anyone here is kids... I do this exercise almost entirely with students.....
)
Who, what, when, where, how, why... is the reminder
In this case, THE most fundamental question has not been asked..

No..
The Pawn.. wow.. Have not thought of it in a very long time.. One of the first computer applications I ever played was a very similar text based game on an Apple .. I think it was called D&D and it was a mountain of fun

Did the branch literally fall on or very near to the community thus causing them to cry?
