hey, my name is seth. been toying with linux for years (a few stints with it as my main OS, but a lot of just playing with it and learning my way around to the point that i'm pretty comfortable with it). i used to use arch and i still love the diy-nature of it, but crunchbang is a lot better for day-to-day use. it comes with a lot of the configuration options that i usually setup myself so i don't feel like i'm being forced into a 'user-friendly' experience (as is with ubuntu).

Welcome seth
There have been a number of Arch users joining the forums, you will probably bump into some. I look forward to seeing you about!

hi Seth and welcome to the forums
I have to agree that many of the default configurations are spot on. I've changed very little from the default. I think Philip has done an excellent job of selecting a configuration that many users will like from the get go.

hmm on second read of my own post... i didn't mean in any way that crunchbang isn't userfriendly, haha. but i like that many of the options that i would change are already configured and those that aren't are more easily accessed (such as conky configuration). this is my first time using openbox and so far there's really not been much of a learning curve; as-is i don't keep any icons on my desktop on my macbook running leopard, so this isn't much of a change. i'm thinking of installing #! on my macbook soon, too, but synaptics configuration has always been a pain.
