Anyway, Waldorf on the disk now, installed!  Works great.  Loving this.

My system is perfect as far as I know. Never seen a filemanager and files open so fast. I will have a look at creating fstab. Thanks!

I tried Unetbooten from Windoze just before the fstab fix (I know total brainfart) and couldn't get past the install screen.

I don't have an fstab file, but I have a fstab.d folder- is this the bug? I haven't had any problems with usb's or anything, or thunar in general, but I don't really go poking around in fstab and partitions much so wouldn't know the sitch.

My Waldorf has hot corners on. I really like them, and have run, thunar, iceweasel, and terinator occupying corners- really useful and means I obmenu can be simpler, without putting favourites at the top. I also like how it kind of has a simplified gnome-shell sort of feel because of this. A more thoughtful version, without the ego. Having the potential to add hot corners in the cb start config would be a nice thought.

I'm not that familiar with taking responsibility for upgrades and dist upgrades myself (as a previous mint user). Should I be upgrading the dist? I've just upgraded a few packages is all- like iceweasel.

My x121e is running perfectly as far as I can see- best it ever has (and with the grub mod for the power regression isssue). I'm not that bothered about upgrading because of this, but now I see fstab is potentially missing I begin to wonder.

Also- very vague thing of me to say - but memory seems to be pretty high as well. Surprisingly so. I've ran 32bit on my x21e and memory was always very low. I never really took any notice. But in my understanding 64bit allocates/organizes memory differently, so am not sure of the normalities/anomalies I might expect to observe.

I guess that's just a call for some comments...

To echo what corenominal just said -- the dd method is the best way to make a live USB boot in my experience.

^ True Peace9r, what hardware are you installing on? Have other recent, Debian-based installs worked on this machine? You should also try the #! install on another machine, as you said you would later this week.

The laptop I'm trying to load the updated Waldorf image on, is currently running the first iteration of Waldorf and is running the 3.2.0.3.686-pae kernel. So its not as if the hardware doesn't "like" a debian install. Have previously run Statler on the same machine.

By the way, I find it silly that #! has Iceweasel 10. I know that's the version from Wheezy, but it would be better to just install the latest Firefox. Plus, crunchbang.org/start is slow. A good idea would be to have the start page on the pc, as Firefox does with about:home.

Both valid points. I updated Iceweasel yesterday, it is now at 15.0.1. Regarding the start page, I will look into moving it to the local filesystem.

The web interface for Deluge is awesome.

^ I've also just switched from Transmission to Deluge! The web interface for Deluge is awesome.
