1. Open a terminal and download the deb package from my PPA on Launchpad. Note: see the builds directory for the correct package for your architecture:

Hardy Heron users:

wget http://ppa.launchpad.net/corenominal/ubuntu/pool/main/m/moosplash/moosplash_0.01_i386.deb

Intrepid Ibex users:

wget http://ppa.launchpad.net/corenominal/ubuntu/pool/main/m/moosplash/moosplash_0.02_i386.deb

2. Install the package using gdebi:

Hardy Heron users:

sudo gdebi moosplash_0.01_i386.deb

Intrepid Ibex users:

sudo gdebi moosplash_0.02_i386.deb

3. Install and run startupmanager:

sudo apt-get install startupmanager && gksudo startupmanager

4. Once startupmanager is running, select the "Appearance" tab and then select "moosplash" from the Usplash theme selector. See image below:

5. Click the "Close" button and reboot. Moooooo!

1. Issue the following terminal command to download the required packages:

sudo apt-get install build-essential debhelper dh-make diff patch gnupg fakeroot lintian devscripts pbuilder dpatch dput

2. Create the pbuilder environment with the following command:

sudo pbuilder create

pbuilder Universe support

If you want to rebuild a package from universe or build a new one that needs a package out of main you will need to add this to ~/.pbuilderrc:

COMPONENTS="main restricted universe multiverse"

if [ "$DIST" == "etch" ]; then
    echo "Using a Debian pbuilder environment because DIST is $DIST"
    COMPONENTS="main contrib non-free"
fi

After adding the new sources you need to update the chroot, so that it picks up the new apt lines:

sudo pbuilder update --override-config

1. Enter the following command and follow the instructions to create a new user:

adduser username

2. Add the new user to the admin group with the following command:

usermod -a -G admin username

You should now have a new user with admin privileges.

Project/Directory Structure

When creating a project, the Subversion documentation suggests that you create a directory structure like the following:

Import

Used for importing a new project into a repository:

svn import /path/to/project http://svn.example.com/project -m "First Import"

Checkout

Check out a project into your local working directory:

svn checkout http://svn.example.com/project/trunk /path/to/working/directory 

List Projects

To get a list of the current projects stored in a repository, you can use the following command.

svn list --verbose http://svn.example.com/project/

Update

To bring a local project up to date with the repository, issue the following command from within the working project directory:

svn update

Status

To list status of project/modified files, issue the following command from within the working project directory:

svn status

Commit

To commit your changes to the repository, issue the following command from within the working project directory:

svn commit -m "short log message detailing changes made"

Add

New files/directories need to be added to the project, issue the following command from within the working project directory:

svn add path/to/new_file_or_directory

Delete

To delete files/directories that are no longer required, issue the following command from within the working project directory:

svn delete path/to/new_file_or_directory

Tagging Projects

To create a project release, create a new tag to identify the project. This is done by making a virtual copy of a project in the tags directory. For example:

svn copy http://svn.example.com/project/trunk http://svn.example.com/project/tags/0.0.1 -m "Tagging the 0.0.1 release"
