Gutsy Upgrade Woes
This morning I attempted to upgrade my desktop from Feisty to Gutsy. It all started well, I made sure I had a backup of my home directory and then I started the upgrade.
My system achieved a good connection and it downloaded all 1110 packages in about 3 hours or so — not bad for a half MB line! Then, as the new packages were being installed and configured my system decided to stop responding :| I tried a reboot and managed to bring up a login screen. I entered my credentials but then nothing. No desktop, no panels no anything. I'm sure I could have rescued the system, but to be honest, I think it'll be easier to start afresh.
On the upside, I'm now typing this post using Puppy Linux, my next favourite distro. Yay for Puppy Power! :D
I've started the 7.10 CD download and it should be complete within an hour or two. Hopefully I'll be back in the land of Ubuntu before the end of the day.
