On Choosing A Direction

I've been thinking about this here blog and the direction I want to take it in. As I see it there are basically two types of blogs [I know this is a huge generalisation, but bare with me]:

  1. Blogs where the content has been designed and written specifically to be viewed by others. Generally this type of blog offers content along the lines of news, commentary and instructional info. Posts relate to a range of topics that the author is interested in and each post is carefully crafted and proofed, much in the same fashion as a traditional publication.

  2. Blogs where the content is not specifically intended to be viewed by others [although it is still made public.] The authors of these blogs create the content for themselves and often use their blogs as personal resources/repositories of information and data.

The second type of blog appeals to me and that is the direction I will taking with CrunchBang. I feel that by clarifying this decision from the beginning [I'm only a few posts in] I will be freeing myself from placing any expectations on this blog. It will also mean that I can post whatever I want and not have to pamper to any potential readership — no offence :-)
